Rolling Stock

The Angel Trains passenger fleet is comprised of both electric and diesel high speed inter-city, regional and urban (commuter) vehicles. Below are our milestone investments to date:

£977 Million

A total investment of £977 million in 583 Class 390 Pendolino high-speed tilting train vehicles for use by Virgin Trains on the West Coast Mainline between London, Birmingham and Glasgow. This includes a follow on order for 106 addition vehicles (£269 million) which were delivered during 2012.

£33 Million

£33 million investment in the Merseyrail fleet of electric multiple units, including refurbished interiors and improved performance from engineering modifications.

£700 Million

Orders exceeding £700 million for Siemens Desiro commuter trains for the South West Trains network into London.

£33 Million

£33 million investment in 24 Class 172 vehicles from Bombardier Transportation, operated on the London Overground and Chiltern Railways services. These vehicles are one of the lightest and most environmentally friendly modern diesel multiple units available, meeting the latest legislation on emissions and improving the passenger experience.

£240 Million

A £240 million investment in 150 new Desiro City Class 707 second generation EMUs for Stagecoach South Western Trains. These vehicles are being built by Siemens and are scheduled for delivery from summer 2017.

£22 Million

£22 million investment in Chiltern Railways' fleet, including interior re-fitting, air conditioning retrofit and reliability enhancements.

£133 Million

The procurement and financing of 80 new Class 350 vehicles built by Siemens for London Midland and Transpennine Express, with a capital value of £133 million.These vehicles were delivered on schedule between December 2013 and August 2014.

£116 Million

£116 million upgrade including the re-powering and refurbishment of 60 HST power cars, currently on lease to Virgin Trains East Coast, Great Western Railway, Cross Country Trains and Grand Central.

We place great importance on long-term asset stewardship, so the value of the asset can be optimised throughout its lifecycle. This approach protects the asset whilst it is being operated by the TOC and also provides added value to the customer by creating a safe and reliable method of transport.

    In 2009 Angel Trains became the first ROSCO to gain approval to the Railway Industry Supplier Approval Scheme which is being implemented across the UK rail supply industry.
