About the role:

As one of our Fleet Engineers you will be responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective management of an allocated train fleet and ensure these assets are managed safely, and to high standards, throughout their operating lives. This includes identifying and managing technical improvements and modifications and supporting safety investigations.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing Engineering Changes through the internal Change Management System to demonstrate that proposals are safe, technically appropriate and not detrimental to the Company’s assets.
  • Supporting or leading investigations into Safety Incidents. Ensuring appropriate actions are taken to reduce or mitigate future risks.
  • Collaborating with Standards Engineers on developing and maintaining technical specifications for heavy maintenance and overhauls.
  • Working collaboratively with operator and OEM engineering teams to maximise asset performance and reliability, in line with asset Performance Improvement Plans.
  • Defining and managing projects with external technical consultants when needed, ensuring work is delivered to a high standard, to cost and on time.

What do we need from you?

  • A technical engineering background or training (ideally you will also already be a chartered engineer or working towards this).
  • In-depth technical knowledge of traction & rolling stock used within the UK rail industry.
  • Exposure to managing Engineering Change requests and investigating Safety Incidents.
