Graduate Programme
Our commitment to developing young engineers
Angel Trains is committed to receiving and developing the best
team within the rail industry.
At Angel Trains our Training & Development policy is to support the development of all our employees.
Our accredited Graduate Programme is designed to provide Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Graduates with a diverse learning experience, leading to a final role within our Engineering Team and to Chartered status.
Our 4-year programme has been developed with guidance from the I Mech E, to take advantage of the Passport Scheme. This scheme is an industry wide collaboration to facilitate the development of Graduate Engineers.
The 4-year programme is structured into 2 key stages.
Phase 1 - Training
This initial phase offers the engineer a rich and diverse learning experience. This 2-year period consists of a number of internal and external placements allowing the trainee to build up an extensive knowledge of both ‘hands on’ engineering and commercial awareness.
Our Commitment
- To provide a platform for the graduate to gain an in depth understanding of our business and the wider rail industry.
- To prepare the graduate for a final role within Engineering Department.
- To provide a route to Chartered Status.
Phase 2 - Responsible experience/Final Role
The latter stage provides a platform for continuous professional & personal development. The engineer will be placed into a final role within Angel Trains and will be measured against the I Mech E MPDS Responsible Experience Competency Statements, the successful completion of this 2-year period will lead directly to chartered status.
Our Commitment
- To provide a smooth transition into a final role (typically Fleet Engineer or Contract Management).
- To provide ongoing support during transition and throughout RE stage.
- To ensure there is a balance between responsibility and support.
